Overview
This role involves the timely and accurate submission of invoices to responsible payers for all services and products provided. The position requires evaluating payments received, applying them correctly to patient accounts, and following up with responsible parties to ensure timely and accurate payments. Additional responsibilities include assisting with billing and collection training and completing second-level appeals to payers.
Applicants must currently reside in the Central Time Zone to be considered.
Responsibilities
- Submit timely and accurate invoices to payers for products and services provided, understanding contract terms and fee schedules.
- Correctly determine quantities and prices for drugs billed.
- Verify that services and products are properly authorized and documented.
- Ensure invoices are submitted only for properly ordered and confirmed services and products.
- Evaluate payments received for correctness and apply payments accurately to patient accounts.
- Verify payments align with fee schedules.
- Ensure secondary bills and patient invoices are mailed within 48 hours of payment receipt.
- Notify the Reimbursement Manager of overpayments or duplicate payments.
- Transfer payments belonging to other offices within 48 hours.
- Follow up on submitted invoices to ensure prompt payment, including verifying claim receipt and processing status.
- Send letters to patients or responsible parties when insurance carriers fail to pay within a reasonable timeframe.
- Generate and mail statements and collection letters.
- Follow up on all denials within 48 hours of receipt.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, fee schedules, and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient and business confidentiality.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0 to 6 months of previous infusion reimbursement or intake/admissions experience.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including tasks such as opening workbooks, formatting cells, inserting rows and columns, and using basic functions like copy, paste, and spell check.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, including opening documents, cutting and pasting text, formatting, inserting bullets and pictures, using find and replace, and spell check.
