Overview

This role is for a Senior Accountant in the Servicing Division, performing general accounting functions and analyses in accordance with GAAP. Responsibilities include managing general ledger, balance sheet, income statement accounts, ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. The position requires adherence to company policies and all applicable US state and federal laws and regulations.

The target pay range is $36.00 - $46.00 per hour plus an annual bonus. Compensation is based on relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and other factors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and record bank activities in the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and detailed balance sheet account reconciliations, including accounts receivable, prepaids, accruals, and other liability accounts.
  • Manage internal and external wire transfers.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts for fluctuations at month-end close to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end audits.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls and established company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Servicing Division Specific Duties

  • Record initial recognition and subsequent fair value adjustments of Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs).
  • Perform impairment testing and valuation analysis of MSR assets.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment for non-recoverable advances and write-offs.
  • Record advance-related financing transactions, including securitized advance facilities.
  • Reconcile and analyze servicing-related revenue and expense accounts.
  • Work with Treasury to manage MSR financing facilities such as MSR lines of credit.
  • Coordinate with servicing operations to validate advance balances and reimbursements.
  • Monitor recoverability of advances from investors, guarantors (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae), or borrowers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three to five years of general accounting or finance experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP accounting software preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) zone hours.
  • Preference for candidates residing on the West Coast.

Location

Remote work from home with required overlap of PST zone hours. Preference given to candidates living on the West Coast.
