Overview
This role involves supporting and scaling accounting operations across a global business in a high-growth, multinational environment. The Senior Accountant will focus on operating expense accounting, global close operations, foreign currency accounting, reconciliations, and process automation. The position reports to the Manager, Accounting and is remote within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned areas of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Lead global operating expense accounting activities including accruals, prepaids, allocations, intercompany charges, reclassifications, and variance analysis across multiple departments and international entities.
- Perform account reconciliations for domestic and international operations, identifying reconciling items, aging balances, process gaps, and control weaknesses.
- Collaborate with FP&A, business leaders, and budget owners to analyze spending trends, validate accrual assumptions, explain forecast-to-actual variances, and enhance financial visibility.
- Apply accounting judgment on expense recognition, foreign currency matters, intercompany activity, and other multinational accounting issues.
- Guide automation initiatives using ERP capabilities, AI technologies, workflow tools, and data visualization platforms to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and increase scalability.
- Design, implement, or enhance AI-enabled accounting workflows, bots, agents, reconciliations, and close support processes to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Maintain SOX controls and operational accounting processes, acting as a liaison for internal and external audits, and advancing controls from detective to preventative.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including global operational accounting, corporate accounting, or public accounting supporting multinational organizations.
- Experience with operating expense accounting, monthly close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis in complex organizations.
- Proven experience managing accounting activities in global or multi-entity environments, including foreign currency accounting, intercompany transactions, and international operations.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience improving and scaling accounting operations through automation, systems optimization, workflow redesign, and AI-enabled process improvements.
- Hands-on experience applying AI tools, workflow automation platforms, bots, agents, or data tools to modernize accounting and finance processes.
- Familiarity with large ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, data visualization tools, or analytical platforms.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay ranges by location (annual):
- Colorado: $111,300 - $178,100
- Washington: $111,300 - $196,700
- California: $111,300 - $215,400
- New York City: $134,600 - $215,400
- Actual salary may vary based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
