The position focuses on detailed review of deliverables prepared by a Center of Excellence (COE) team, ownership of multiple balance sheet reconciliations, and ownership of SG&A and COGS accrual processes. In addition to month-end close responsibilities, the role contributes to process improvement and enhances the quality, clarity, and usefulness of financial reporting for other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed reviews of journal entries, reconciliations, and other deliverables prepared by the COE team to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper support, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to the COE team and partner to resolve errors at the root cause.
  • Own and prepare multiple balance sheet reconciliations monthly, resolving reconciling items timely and maintaining audit-ready support.
  • Own SG&A and COGS accrual processes, including preparation, analysis, true-ups, and documentation of methodology and assumptions.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accounting principles.
  • Identify and investigate variances or discrepancies in financial records; perform fluctuation analysis and take corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives by streamlining, standardizing, and automating accounting workflows.
  • Improve recurring and ad hoc reporting for other departments by enhancing accuracy, format, and usefulness.
  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules and support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage time effectively to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance review responsibilities with individual deliverables.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and accrual accounting (SG&A and COGS).
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing the work of others and providing effective feedback, ideally in a shared services or COE environment.
  • Track record of process improvement, streamlining financial operations, and implementing best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and ERP platforms; NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical ability to work with numbers accurately.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to question results that don’t make sense, connect activity across accounts, and anticipate downstream impacts.
  • Team-oriented mindset: build trust with the COE team and business partners, share knowledge generously, and put team outcomes first.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accounting audiences.
  • Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders and providing accurate, decision-ready financial information.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented growth environment.
  • Self-motivation, ownership of assigned areas, and willingness to drive change management.
