Overview

A Senior Accountant with experience in Manufacturing Accounting is needed to join the Accounting team. This role involves overseeing the entry and review of transactions related to manufacturing processes, including material batching, production batching, and job closures. Collaboration with other departments on these transactions is essential.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the position is critical for daily accounting operations, ensuring transaction-level data accuracy and timely delivery. The Senior Accountant will also manage month-end responsibilities such as processing journal entries for rebates, commissions, inventory, work in progress (WIP), and revenue, requiring detailed research and precise calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Support inventory management and job-related tasks, including reviews for inventory obsolescence.
  • Analyze sales, costs, and margins.
  • Facilitate job closure processes.
  • Calculate and prepare general journal entries for rebates, commissions, inventory, WIP, and revenue.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements and COSO internal control framework.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on transaction processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, specifically in subledger or general ledger accounting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting and financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions such as SUMIF, lookup functions, and pivot tables.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work from home with reliable high-speed internet (hotspot not acceptable) and a dedicated distraction-free workspace.
  • Minimum 40 hours per week during regular business hours; evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • Typical office environment with prolonged sitting (1-2 hours at a time).
  • Minimal travel by car and/or plane may be required.
