Overview

A leading organization in the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking a Senior Energy Consultant specializing in Engineering Finance and Economics. This role supports financial strategy, forecasting, and performance management initiatives to enhance business visibility and decision-making. The position involves partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to improve planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation. It offers the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and scalable financial operations within the energy industry.

Location: Remote (US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $134,546 – $205,557 annually

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial models for new energy projects
  • Conduct due diligence evaluations of power projects
  • Develop operations and maintenance (O&M) cost estimates for existing power plants
  • Perform feasibility studies for proposed power projects
  • Prepare economic evaluations for power plant retirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or engineering
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the power industry
  • Proven expertise in financial modeling of energy projects
  • Technical knowledge of multiple power generation technologies such as solar, wind, nuclear, etc.
  • Familiarity with revenue requirements for power plants is preferred

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency with financial modeling software (e.g., Excel, MATLAB)
  • Experience with power generation technologies (solar, wind, nuclear, thermal)
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • Skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., HOMER, RETScreen)
  • Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS)
  • Ability to manage and analyze data using SQL databases
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python for automation and process improvement
  • Understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) to leverage AI in engineering workflows
