Senior financial accountant - Insurance - Remote

Overview

This role focuses on driving automation within the finance function by identifying opportunities to streamline manual processes, improve reporting efficiency, and enhance data quality. The successful candidate will design and implement automated workflows using Alteryx, working closely with finance and cross-functional stakeholders to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and deliver scalable, efficient reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations and support the month-end close process.
• Analyse financial data to provide insights supporting strategic business decisions.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows using Alteryx to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual finance processes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with finance, actuarial, and business stakeholders to improve reporting, controls, and operational effectiveness.
• Support finance transformation initiatives, including process standardisation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audit activities.

Requirements

• Previous accounting experience within a Big Four accounting firm or a life insurance company.
• Experience with reinsurance is a bonus.
• Demonstrated experience using Alteryx to automate finance processes, reporting, and data preparation.
• Strong interest in finance transformation, automation, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating effectively across distributed teams.
• CPA or other relevant qualification preferred.
