Overview
This role involves managing U.S. and international indirect tax matters within a growing multinational technology company that provides financial connectivity tools used by millions. The tax team oversees compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations, including income and indirect taxes such as sales and use tax and property tax. The Senior Indirect Tax Associate will focus on indirect tax compliance, audits, and technical support, contributing to the company’s tax strategy and operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage U.S. and EU indirect tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns and payments
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for sales & use tax and other non-income tax accounts
- Assist with indirect tax audits and reviews by collecting data and conducting research
- Provide indirect tax support including customer invoice and contract inquiries, exemption certificate reviews, and tax determinations
- Maintain ASC 450 positions and reserves with proper documentation and calculations
- Monitor tax law changes and legislative updates; perform research and apply tax laws to business transactions
- Support tax technology initiatives, including testing tax engine configurations and developing reporting requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand tax impacts of business operations and communicate tax needs
- Help develop internal controls and automate tax processes to improve efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of U.S. indirect tax experience with strong technical expertise in sales and use tax, especially in technology companies
- Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm
- Proven ability to apply sales tax principles in a technology business environment
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Self-motivated with high ownership, intellectual curiosity, and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to explain complex tax matters to diverse stakeholders
- Solid working knowledge of ASC 450 with attention to accuracy and compliance
- Experience with sales and use tax software such as Avalara, Fonoa, or Anrok
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $118,800 to $162,000
- Additional compensation may include equity and/or commission depending on the position
