Overview

This role owns the end-to-end accounting and operational lifecycle for the organization’s commercial partnerships ecosystem—covering everything from early deal ideation through contract development, launch, ongoing execution, and close for Revenue Accounting. You will serve as the single point of accountability for the partnership lifecycle, providing cross-functional, end-to-end support across deal ideation, contract development, accounting assessment, operational readiness, launch execution, ongoing partner activity, and financial close.

The position is highly visible and hands-on. You will advise senior leaders on deal structure and risk, establish standards across functions, and then execute deep work across contract language, system configuration, reconciliations, journal entries, and close support.

Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial partnership lifecycle end to end for Revenue Accounting.
  • Establish an end-to-end framework for evaluating, structuring, approving, contracting, launching, operating, and closing partnership arrangements for Revenue Accounting.
  • Collaborate with Partnerships, Commercial, Product, and Legal teams to define requirements, design processes, and test go-to-market solutions that support deal roadmaps and scalable accounting, operational, financial, and control outcomes.
  • Define stage gates, ownership models, approval requirements, and handoffs from deal concept through contract execution and operational delivery.
  • Provide visibility into the partnership pipeline, including upcoming launches, key obligations, revenue implications, operational dependencies, and close requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on accounting considerations, operational readiness, and execution risk affecting accounting and financial statement completeness and accuracy.

Commercial partnership standards and contract guardrails (Revenue Accounting)

  • Partner with Legal and Partnerships to develop standard contract terms, fallback positions, approval thresholds, and playbooks for recurring partnership structures.
  • Review and advise on contract provisions as they impact Revenue Accounting, including items related to pricing, discounts, fees, minimum commitments, incentives, services, usage, data, fulfillment, returns, termination, settlement, and other commercial obligations.
  • Translate accounting and operational requirements into clear, enforceable, and scalable contract language.
  • Identify arrangements outside standard terms and lead cross-functional assessment, escalation, and exception documentation for Revenue Accounting.
  • Build a library of standard deal structures, accounting conclusions, operational requirements, and lessons learned for Revenue Accounting.

Scalable operational rails for Revenue Accounting

  • Support Revenue Accounting requirements in repeatable operating models with Partnerships, Revenue Operations, Order-to-Cash, Product, and other process owners for partner onboarding, order flow, billing, invoicing, collections, cash application, settlements, reporting, customer eligibility, fulfillment, and issue resolution.
  • Define operational requirements and controls for new partnership models, including ownership, data inputs, system workflows, reconciliations, exception handling, and reporting impacting Revenue Accounting.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to design more standardized solutions rather than one-off processes.
  • Prioritize system, data, and process improvements to reduce manual work, improve control quality, and accelerate partnership launches.
  • Define launch-readiness criteria and post-launch monitoring to ensure the operational model performs as designed.

Technical review and execution for Commercial Partnership Contracts (Revenue Accounting)

  • Provide revenue accounting requirements and guidance to Product, Commercial, Partnerships, and Legal teams during deal ideation and contract drafting.
  • Analyze complex partnership arrangements under ASC 606, including identifying contracts with customers, performance obligations, transaction price, variable consideration, principal-versus-agent considerations, contract modifications, and timing of revenue recognition as applicable.
  • Partner with Revenue Technical Accounting to prepare or oversee technical accounting analyses, conclusions, and documentation for new and non-standard arrangements.
  • Partner with Revenue Accounting peers to ensure consistent application of policy across partnership structures and alignment with broader revenue processes.
  • Own accounting setup and ongoing accounting execution for assigned partnerships, including preparation/review of journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close, including identifying close dependencies, resolving exceptions, and ensuring partnership activity is recorded completely and accurately.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and partner with external auditors and SOX stakeholders on inquiries, control evidence, and remediation activities.

Partner across Finance and the business

  • Work closely with FP&A to support overall Finance deal approval.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Operations on quote-to-cash design, system requirements, data quality, reporting, and operational controls.
  • Maintain alignment with O2C Operations and Revenue Accounting peers across ownership, handoffs, policies, and close responsibilities.
  • Communicate complex accounting and operational considerations clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional working sessions and decision-making forums, drive issues to resolution, and ensure commitments are documented and executed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, commercial finance, partnership finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying revenue recognition principles to complex or non-standard commercial arrangements.
  • Experience across the full lifecycle of commercial partnerships, contracts, or other complex commercial programs—from structuring and drafting through operational execution and financial close.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate commercial objectives into practical contract terms, accounting conclusions, system requirements, operational processes, and controls.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or owning journal entries, reconciliations, close activities, and audit support.
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional order-to-cash processes, including billing, collections, cash application, settlements, and reporting.
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Partnerships, Product, FP&A, Revenue Operations, and senior business leaders.
  • Strong project leadership skills, including the ability to establish structure and drive complex work across teams without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical accounting and operational topics to executive and non-finance audiences.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and a bias toward building scalable, standardized solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with strategic partnerships, channel programs, bundled offerings, platform arrangements, or other multi-party commercial models.
  • Experience implementing or improving ERP, billing, revenue recognition, contract lifecycle management, CRM, or partner operations systems.
  • Experience building accounting policies, contract playbooks, operating procedures, control frameworks, or launch-readiness programs.
  • Experience in a high-growth, multi-product, or globally distributed organization.
  • People leadership experience or a demonstrated track record of leading high-impact teams and cross-functional programs.
