Overview

This role supports Finance Transformation efforts for a newly public, hyper-growth organization. You will build a prioritized, governed roadmap that brings together fragmented systems requests, close and control needs, and process-improvement work. Working closely with Accounting leadership and Business Systems/IT, you will establish the operating cadence, prioritization framework, and governance needed for Accounting to make clear trade-offs and move the highest-value work forward, with direct exposure to senior leadership.

This is a remote role based in the US, reporting to the Finance Transformation Lead.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Partnership & Communication

  • Act as a trusted partner across Accounting, Business Systems/IT, FP&A, and external advisors; tailor communication style and depth for operators and decision-ready leadership framing.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings and drive alignment, surfacing decisions early—especially when priorities conflict.
  • Serve as the primary Accounting partner for IT triage by translating incidents, enhancement requests, and defects into well-scoped tickets, severity assessments, and business impact statements.
  • Partner with Business Systems on requirements, prioritization, testing, and release readiness for NetSuite and connected finance tools (e.g., Zip, FloQast, Workiva).
  • Establish a clear triage and escalation process so urgent close, reporting, and control-impacting issues are tracked to resolution across Accounting and IT.
  • Coordinate external consultants and implementation partners to achieve sustainable outcomes owned internally.

Portfolio Management & Governance

  • Own project-management discipline for the Finance Transformation portfolio, including integrated plans, milestones, dependencies, RAID tracking, decision logs, and escalation.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and tracking tools to provide leadership and stakeholders self-serve visibility into progress.
  • Consolidate active transformation, systems, and process-improvement work into one prioritized, tiered portfolio with clear owners and expected outcomes.
  • Provide concise, decision-oriented leadership updates highlighting trade-offs, blockers, and required decisions.
  • Establish and track operating metrics (e.g., cycle times, remediation progress, portfolio health) to measure and communicate transformation impact.

SOX Readiness & Controls

  • Convert control gaps, substantive errors, and audit observations into prioritized remediation plans with clear owners, due dates, and evidence requirements.
  • Drive root-cause analysis to ensure recurring errors receive durable fixes.
  • Partner with control owners across close, reporting, and systems to sequence remediation based on risk, supporting SOX Year 1 readiness and broader public company reporting requirements.

Close Acceleration & Process Improvement

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that improve close cadence, reconciliation quality, and visibility into period-end risk across multiple entities.
  • Build repeatable mechanisms for tracking close blockers, root causes, and remediation progress.

First-Year Success Measures

  • A single prioritized portfolio built on a shared People-Process-Technology framework, where each item has a clear problem, priority tier, owner, and expected outcome.
  • SOX and control readiness, with high-risk control gaps and remediation plans that include ownership, evidence expectations, escalation paths, and support for SOX Year 1 and public company reporting readiness.
  • Sustainable operating improvements demonstrated through measurable gains in close execution, control quality, or cycle time, supported by a track record as a collaborative partner across Accounting, IT, and external advisors.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in finance transformation, accounting operations, internal audit, finance systems, or process improvement, including leading cross-functional projects.
  • Strong project/program management skills, including integrated planning, dependency management, risk/issue escalation, and executive reporting. PMP or equivalent a plus.
  • Solid accounting fluency (close, reconciliations, journal entries, controls) and ability to translate business needs into system and process requirements.
  • Experience partnering with IT/Business Systems on intake, incident triage, prioritization, and release management.
  • Experience with SOX, internal controls, or financial reporting risk remediation in a public-company or late-stage pre-IPO environment.
  • Comfort operating in a dynamic, hyper-growth environment; practical and feasible-first approach with the ability to adjust quickly as priorities shift.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to flex communication style and depth and facilitate meetings productively when priorities conflict. Experience building or rebuilding a team or function is a plus.
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience; multi-entity, international operations exposure (intercompany, FX, consolidation) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Information Systems. CPA preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or equivalent.
  • Exposure to SOX and financial reporting risk remediation in a public-company or late-stage pre-IPO environment.
