Overview

This role serves as the senior technical authority on revenue accounting and owns critical revenue processes end to end, including building and scaling Order-to-Cash capabilities. Responsibilities include ASC 606 policy ownership and judgment calls, guiding revenue recognition through pricing and billing model transitions, and acting as the primary point of contact for auditors on all revenue matters while supporting the design and build-out of a Stripe-based billing engine.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Order-to-Cash function end to end, including billing, collections, sales tax, and MRR/ARR reporting and accounting.
  • Co-lead the design and build-out of the go-forward billing engine on Stripe, including architecture and the Chargebee migration from planning through execution.
  • Own ASC 606 revenue recognition policy end to end as the organization shifts toward consumption-based pricing and multi-year agreements.
  • Partner with RevOps, Engineering, and Product to ensure the CPQ-to-billing pipeline supports growing transaction volume and deal complexity.
  • Ensure data flowing from Salesforce to Stripe and Snowflakes supports critical downstream reporting (including MRR/ARR/CARR reporting).
  • Co-own ARR/Bookings/MRR Definitions Memo, Revenue Recognition Matrix, Discount Authority Matrix, and related pricing governance documents with RevOps and Sales leadership.
  • Review contracts with Sales/RevOps for revenue recognition impact prior to signature; brief the Controller and CFO on key judgment calls.
  • Co-lead CPQ flow with the deal desk function, serving as the revenue accounting voice on non-standard terms and deal structuring.
  • Lead the Order-to-Cash team by coaching billing/collections and reporting staff through new pricing and process rollouts.
  • Own the accuracy of revenue journal entries for each close.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with auditors on all revenue matters.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of accounting experience; 5+ years in revenue accounting/revenue recognition in a SaaS, API, Payments, or marketplace business.
  • CPA required or strongly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with systems such as Stripe, Chargebee, and Salesforce; comfortable acting as a co-admin alongside the Controller and RevOps, identifying systems integration issues and process gaps.
  • Hands-on ASC 606 experience, including:
    • Usage-based allocation for consumption pricing
    • Minimum-guarantee accounting for threshold-based API and Payments arrangements
    • Principal-vs-agent determination on payment take-rate revenue
  • Experience with SSP allocation for bundled SKUs and contract modification and financing component analysis on multi-year agreements.
  • Comfortable working with SQL, big data, and data warehouse concepts (Snowflake or similar), including navigating evolving table structures, exercising sound data quality judgment, and producing reports that reconcile back to source data.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members to grow impact as the organization scales.
  • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a lean, fast-scaling finance team.
