Overview

The Senior Project Control Analyst provides project financial and reporting support to Division Leads. This role compiles data from Accounting and Contracts to analyze project status and acts as a liaison between Operations and primarily the Accounting, Finance, and Contracts functions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Program Managers and Contracts on Letters of Credit (LOC) notices
  • Review project setup for all new contracts (WBS, POP, etc.) to ensure accuracy
  • Work closely with Accounting and Contracts to validate data, address billing and deliverable requirements
  • Understand project budgets and assist Project Managers in maintaining current financial data
  • Review time charging for all assigned projects
  • Review project expenses for accuracy and correct alignment
  • Reconcile actual versus budgeted costs per project
  • Submit monthly accruals for all assigned projects
  • Review and analyze monthly revenue, gross profit, and identify variances
  • Understand unbilled data, accounts receivable, and accounts payable related to projects; assist in managing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and Days Payable Outstanding (DPO)
  • Prepare monthly reporting for the assigned Division
  • Review and collaborate with Project Managers on invoice approvals prior to customer submission
  • Participate in the monthly close process as part of the Accounting team
  • Review and prepare monthly Estimates at Completion (EACs) and Estimates to Complete (ETCs)
  • Monitor working at risk thresholds on each project and obtain necessary approvals
  • Understand reporting needs of each Division and interfacing departments
  • Calculate incentive awards and commissions applicable to the assigned Division
  • Support the Division Lead with ad hoc reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

Monthly reporting includes but is not limited to:

  • Revenue and gross profit with variance analysis
  • Labor utilization with variance analysis
  • Work at Risk summary
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable commentary related to assigned projects
  • Unbilled commentary related to assigned projects
  • Backlog reporting in coordination with Contracts data

Requirements

  • Exceptional Excel skills with strong data analysis capabilities
  • Experience using CostPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting in Project Control, Finance/Accounting, or related roles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface with staff at all organizational levels
  • Candidates with financial responsibility may be subject to a credit check
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance functions with the ability to complete complex assignments
  • Knowledge of mathematics including elementary statistics, intermediate math, and accounting
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with IT professionals to develop reports and obtain data from various sources
  • Ability to extract and combine data from multiple sources and use various software applications for analysis
  • Advanced experience with project management applications, particularly MS Project
  • Advanced experience with spreadsheet applications, particularly MS Excel

Compensation

Estimated starting pay range is $100,000 to $120,000 annually. This range serves as a general guideline for the geographic location. Offers consider work experience, education, skill level, market factors, and contractual requirements, which may result in offers outside this range.
