Overview
A fast-growing organization dedicated to facilitating community support and charitable giving is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant. This role is central to managing revenue recognition in a high-volume, multi-currency payments environment. The Senior Revenue Accountant will report to the Revenue Accounting Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Payments, Finance, Tax, and Data to enhance controls, drive automation, and optimize payment processing economics.
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparation of high-volume transactional revenue journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses.
- Lead the design, scaling, and automation of transactional revenue accounting processes, including revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and contra-revenue across a global payments infrastructure.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly revenue financial reporting by preparing supporting schedules tied to transactional activity.
- Prepare and analyze payment processor interchange pricing models; present findings and cost-saving recommendations.
- Monitor and reconcile high-volume, multi-currency payment flows across multiple payment processors, identifying anomalies and ensuring transaction-level revenue accuracy.
- Support cross-functional teams in developing standard operating procedures impacting revenue processes and top-line results; ensure revenue-impacting activities are identified and assessed for revenue recognition implications.
- Assist with global and statutory audits by preparing supporting audit workpapers and schedules.
- Support new system implementations and integrations by preparing use cases and conducting user testing, focusing on payment and transaction processing systems.
- Develop and implement controls over transactional-level data used for revenue reporting.
- Track and review revenue-related contracts to ensure compliance with revenue policies.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and projects across various teams as needed.
Requirements
- 3–4 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier); a combination of public accounting experience plus 1 year in fintech or payments industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance.
- Experience researching, documenting, and communicating technical accounting matters.
- Expert-level Excel skills capable of handling record sets exceeding 1 million rows.
- Experience working with databases and SQL or ability to quickly learn.
- Experience with Looker or similar business intelligence tools is a strong plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with experience analyzing high-volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to work across diverse teams and drive change.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech or payments companies beyond public accounting.
- Familiarity with automation and scaling of revenue accounting processes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual U.S. salary range: $91,500 - $137,500.
