Senior Revenue Accountant

Overview

This role involves managing revenue accounting functions with a focus on ASC 606 compliance within a SaaS or subscription-based technology environment. The position requires expertise in revenue recognition, financial reporting, and system implementations related to revenue accounting.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606.
• Serve as a technical revenue accounting subject matter expert by researching and documenting complex revenue recognition issues and providing guidance on ASC 606 application and accounting treatment.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting close activities, including commissions accounting close activities and deliverables such as reconciliations, revenue dashboards and reporting, revenue reserves, and flux analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue forecasting and reporting.
• Prepare revenue-related reports for financial statement disclosures.
• Lead or support the implementation and migration of revenue accounting systems.
• Define system requirements and ensure alignment with accounting policies.
• Perform system testing, validation, and user training for new implementations or enhancements.
• Interface with internal and external auditors on revenue-related issues, support US GAAP audits, and maintain SOX control documentation.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a revenue accounting role within a SaaS technology or subscription-based industry.
• Experience in public accounting or at a public company is required; CPA certification is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management module in multi-currency and multi-subsidiary environments.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidates must have current and unrestricted work authorization in the country where the role is based; visa sponsorship or work authorization support is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI, Salesforce CRM, and RevPro.
• Experience with system implementation and user acceptance testing (UAT) for NetSuite and RevPro.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $83,000 - $138,000, depending on experience, qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
• Eligibility to participate in discretionary bonus plans, commission plans, and/or equity plans depending on the role.
