Overview

This role offers a co-leadership opportunity to provide accurate and timely financial information and analysis, supporting profitable business growth and portfolio optimization. The position acts as a key financial partner, assisting the Finance Director in streamlining processes and implementing standardized methodologies across business units. Responsibilities include directing collaborative financial and operational planning, reducing expenses, and partnering with cross-functional leaders to drive strong ROI on investments.

The role focuses on the BOOST and Carnation Breakfast Essentials (CBE) product lines, strategizing on top-line growth, optimizing trade, coupons, product fixed marketing spend (PFME), and cost of goods sold (COGS). It involves coordinating month-end close and dynamic forecasting processes, updating teams on actual spend versus budget, margin contribution/cost analysis, and early detection of potential variances across the entire P&L.

Collaboration with marketing on product innovations and long-term strategy is essential, as is working closely with Sales, Customer Strategy, Supply Chain Finance, and other business functions to provide timely, accurate, and insightful financial analysis. The role includes analyzing profitability throughout the annual planning cycle, forecast submissions, marketing spend, and innovation/renovation projects, delivering clear and effective financial reporting to drive business optimization and process improvement. Handling special assignments and audits as required is also part of the role.

This is a remote position with anticipated monthly travel to the corporate office in Bridgewater, NJ. Preference will be given to candidates local to this office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide finance support for product innovation/renovation projects by collaborating with project leads on P&L scenarios including volume, pricing, COGS, and other costs, benchmarking against financial hurdles.
  • Manage full P&L budget through continuous interaction with sales and marketing teams, reviewing available funds, monthly phasing for forecasting accuracy, validating and approving budget changes, and conducting pricing versus RIG analysis.
  • Partner with Finance Operations and Supply Chain teams to optimize variable direct expenses (VDE), COGS, and other total delivered costs.
  • Support and ensure accurate monthly P&L forecasts by actively participating in monthly business planning meetings, trade discussions, and inputting forecasts into reporting tools.
  • Provide strategic direction to cross-functional teams to drive optimal margin contribution and product mix.
  • Support period-end close processes, ensure P&L financial integrity and accuracy, perform variance analysis to inform future forecasting, create financial reports, and assist in preparing presentations to support business needs.
  • Handle ad hoc requests while continuously evaluating and improving processes and reporting practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or completion by December 2026.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in finance management and/or accounting.
  • Experience in consumer products or manufacturing environments is a plus.

  • Advanced Excel modeling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate potential opportunities and risks.
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards relevant to the organization.
  • Ability to understand and communicate drivers of product profit and loss.
  • Skilled in analyzing data and presenting insights concisely and clearly.
  • Intermediate to advanced financial modeling capabilities.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles and activity-based costing.
  • End-to-end business mindset, results-focused, self-starter with high initiative and inquisitiveness.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and adaptability to change.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximate pay range: $88,000 to $102,000 annually. Final compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
