Overview
A financial services organization is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join their team. This role involves managing investment accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the investment department.
Location and Work Arrangement
- Location: Georgia, United States
- Work Designation: Hybrid or remote depending on proximity to offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC
- Hybrid: For employees living within 50 miles of the offices, expected to work onsite at least 60% of the work week
- Remote: For employees living more than 50 miles away, primarily remote with occasional office visits as needed
Salary Range
- $95,000 - $130,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Perform SOX testing and maintain SOX documentation to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
- Analyze and research accounting treatments for new investment vehicles
- Complete investment general accounting activities accurately and timely
- Interpret and implement new FASB and SSAP regulations relevant to investment accounting
- Delegate assignments, review work, and provide guidance to junior team members
- Identify process improvements and make recommendations to management
- Analyze complex investment data and prepare internal and external reports, including SEC and stockholders’ reports
- Lead or participate in project teams for strategic planning and continuous improvement
- Manage accounting and reporting for real estate owned (REOs) investments
- Resolve transaction discrepancies and maintain accurate regulatory filings
- Develop and implement accounting procedures in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with business partners
- Track departmental goals and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through KPIs and team meetings
- Develop and maintain enhanced reporting tools
- Assist other areas of investment accounting as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Six years of professional experience in investments or related accounting/reporting
- Experience managing projects or continuous improvement initiatives
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; VBA/macro experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience with SAP, BW, Workiva, or similar accounting/financial software
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and FASB, especially insurance and investment accounting
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement skills
- Competencies in consulting, change management, quality, and project management
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification or training

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $95,000 - $130,000, with offers based on education, experience, certifications, location, and peer compensation
