Overview

A leading cloud storage organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting to lead the end-to-end revenue accounting function. This role involves partnering with cross-functional teams across Finance, Sales, Legal, Product, and Engineering to ensure revenue recognition policies and operations scale effectively with business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily revenue accounting operations including invoice and order approval, credit approval, revenue memo drafting, and audit support.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP across all revenue streams such as subscription and consumption-based billing.
  • Maintain, update, and enforce global revenue recognition policies.
  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors on revenue, deferred revenue, and standalone selling price analyses.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes ensuring accurate ledger entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.
  • Prepare revenue variance analyses, executive dashboards, and financial statement disclosures for leadership and board presentations.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to provide accurate data inputs for revenue and deferred revenue forecasting.
  • Design and maintain scalable revenue processes and controls to support rapid growth and operational efficiency.
  • Lead implementation and optimization of revenue automation tools such as Orb and NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management.
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong SOX compliance controls over order-to-cash and revenue recognition cycles.
  • Partner with Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations during contract negotiations to assess accounting treatment and revenue impact.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and HR to review sales commission plans for operational feasibility and accounting impact under ASC 340-40.
  • Oversee monthly commission calculation cycle including payout calculations, commission schedule maintenance, and data validation across CRM and payroll systems.
  • Manage capitalization and amortization schedules of sales commissions aligning expense recognition with customer contract lifetimes.
  • Mentor and manage revenue accounting staff aligning with business priorities and development goals.
  • Experience automating billing to cash and revenue recognition processes using existing and emerging AI-driven tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant accounting experience including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Public accounting experience required; Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition practices for SaaS and consumption-based business models.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience with ERP, billing, and revenue operations platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce, SPIFF, Snowflake, Tableau, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting system integration projects (e.g., ERP-to-billing data flows, commission platform configuration, CRM-to-revenue system connections) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive strategic mindset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and practical experience with SQL are highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $157,000 - $205,000 (U.S. based roles).
  • Final offer depends on candidate location, skills, experience, and credentials.
