Overview

This role involves serving as an Accounts Payable Senior Specialist responsible for critical control functions to ensure accurate and timely completion of disbursements exceeding $2.5 billion annually. The position includes reviewing new vendor setups and updates, resolving utility shutoff and service disruption issues, performing general ledger reconciliations, and conducting account analysis for accrual and trend purposes. The role requires collaboration with IT, Brand Control, Finance teams, external service providers, and suppliers to maintain best-in-class execution. Exceptional customer service and communication across all organizational levels are essential.

This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must be located in the Greater Louisville area.

Responsibilities

  • Review new vendors and updates for compliance with SOX and IRS 1099 reporting requirements; input data into JDE AP system for department manager approval (primary SOX control).
  • Act as primary contact for resolving utility shutoff and service disruption notifications with brand teams, facilities, and utility companies.
  • Assist with unclaimed property (reverse escheatment) processes, including document assembly, securing signatures, coordinating with recovery consultants, and monitoring receipt.
  • Complete quarterly fluctuation analysis for utility and inventory balance sheet accounts.
  • Analyze data for accrual requirements and trend analysis on assigned brand utility outliers; monitor utility invoice aging; perform sustainability reporting for utilities.
  • Provide coverage for multiple team members across cross-functional Accounts Payable teams.
  • Track EDI vendor and interface files (primary AP SOX control).
  • Monitor and resolve inquiries and requests submitted to the AP Controls team mailbox, including acting on approved accelerated payment requests.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and resolve vendor debit balances as needed.
  • Analyze and resolve voucher errors.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts ensuring accuracy and SOX compliance; complete necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Complete check print and reconciliation processes; resolve print software issues in coordination with IT.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by AP leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and/or a minimum of 2 years of Accounts Payable or relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data extraction and manipulation functions such as V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, conflicting priorities, and frequent interruptions.
  • Collaborative mindset with adaptability to frequent updates in policies, procedures, and technology.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, capable of effective interaction at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automated ERP systems and other processing applications such as SharePoint, ReportsNow, and DOMO.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $54,300 - $56,000 plus bonus eligibility. Final pay will consider candidate location, experience, and other job-related factors.
