Staff Accountant

Overview

An impact investing firm focused on providing flexible capital to enterprises in emerging markets is seeking a Staff Accountant. The organization supports enterprises committed to sustainable livelihoods, with an emphasis on women and environmental impact. Since 2006, it has disbursed over $400 million in debt capital to 170 institutions across 55 countries. The firm operates hubs in Washington DC, Barcelona, Nairobi, and Bogotá.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including maintaining and updating financial records
• Prepare account reconciliations and support month-end close processes
• Oversee third-party payroll providers and support related HR operations
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting of financial information
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Finance and CFO
• Identify opportunities to strengthen and streamline accounting processes

Requirements

• Solid foundation in accounting principles
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset
• Early-career professional eager to develop mastery in accounting operations
• Interest in expanding exposure to financial analysis, compliance, and investment operations

Preferred Location

• Strong preference for candidates based in Washington, DC or Austin, TX
