Overview
A rapidly expanding entrepreneurial data company focused on transforming industries such as construction and agriculture through innovative data solutions is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team. This role reports directly to the VP of Finance and offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative environment with significant visibility and impact.
Responsibilities
- Assist the VP of Finance with daily accounting functions and overall financial operations.
- Process vendor payments, deposits, and incoming payments accurately and timely.
- Manage collections and follow up on outstanding receivables to optimize cash flow.
- Prepare, review, and balance journal entries in compliance with GAAP standards.
- Handle credit card transactions and perform regular reconciliations.
- Prepare various ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records to support audits and internal reviews.
- Oversee 1099 filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Conduct multi-state sales tax research, preparation, and filing to ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
- Work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the team and with external vendors.
- Communicate financial information clearly and professionally at all organizational levels.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the finance team as needed.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support company objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience managing complex financial tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience with multi-state sales tax research and filing is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of dependability, accountability, and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Physical ability to remain stationary for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and move between different work locations as needed.
