Overview
A hotel investment and management company with a portfolio of seven hotels in California and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Accountant. The organization focuses on acquiring, developing, and operating high-quality hotel properties in major U.S. metropolitan markets, emphasizing operational excellence and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Post journal entries to accurately record monthly and quarterly financial transactions
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including credit card and bank accounts
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial closings and financial statements, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
- Prepare and maintain all supporting documentation and work papers for financial reports
- Adhere to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets
- Ensure attendance and punctuality in reporting duties
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, practices, and procedures
- Participate proactively to achieve departmental and company-wide goals
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to facilitate smooth operations
- Manage changing deadlines and priorities efficiently
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the finance team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
- Knowledge of hospitality accounting practices and procedures
- Experience with Marriott Lightspeed Systems is required
- Experience with M3 accounting software is preferred
