Overview

A hotel investment and management company with a portfolio of seven hotels in California and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Accountant. The organization focuses on acquiring, developing, and operating high-quality hotel properties in major U.S. metropolitan markets, emphasizing operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Post journal entries to accurately record monthly and quarterly financial transactions
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, including credit card and bank accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial closings and financial statements, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain all supporting documentation and work papers for financial reports
  • Adhere to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets
  • Ensure attendance and punctuality in reporting duties
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, practices, and procedures
  • Participate proactively to achieve departmental and company-wide goals
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to facilitate smooth operations
  • Manage changing deadlines and priorities efficiently
  • Review work for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the finance team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • Knowledge of hospitality accounting practices and procedures
  • Experience with Marriott Lightspeed Systems is required
  • Experience with M3 accounting software is preferred
