Overview
A boutique CPA firm specializing in virtual services for small business owners across the US is seeking a full-time Tax Accountant. The firm focuses on preparing tax returns, streamlining bookkeeping systems, and providing tax and bookkeeping consulting. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely with a flexible schedule and contribute to the growth of a small firm serving creative entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual tax returns, primarily involving Schedule C, Schedule E, multi-state filings, and home office deductions, ensuring accuracy and quality
- Prepare partnership and S-Corporation tax returns with attention to detail
- Reconcile accounts and provide clients with profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and financial insights
- Conduct tax research and prepare tax projections as requested
- Meet all deadlines related to tax return reviews and projects
- Communicate clearly and regularly with clients via email, phone, or video conferencing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of two years of public accounting experience
- Experience preparing individual, partnership, and S-Corporation tax returns
- Strong skills in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Drake tax software preferred
- Highly organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work increased hours during peak tax season (late January through Tax Day)
- Strong client relationship skills, with the ability to understand clients beyond the numbers and support their business success
- Ability to explain complex accounting topics in clear, understandable terms
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,000 to $120,000, based on experience
