Overview
This part-time Tax Coordinator I position involves providing a variety of simple to moderately complex administrative support functions within the tax department. The role supports tax processes and procedures related to corporate income, sales and use tax, annual reports, business licenses, and property tax.
The anticipated schedule is approximately 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Respond to client and vendor requests, including report preparation and inquiries related to accounting/tax software.
- Assist with basic preparation and filing of corporate annual reports, business license registrations, information returns, and other regulatory compliance documents.
- Create, update, and maintain purchase requisitions and purchase orders for the tax department.
- Assist in preparing responses to federal and state governmental tax notices and miscellaneous communications.
- Maintain W-9 forms received and issued, as well as sales and use tax exemption and resale certificates.
- Prepare supporting workpapers related to US federal and state income/franchise tax returns, state and local sales and use tax, and personal property tax audits.
- Assemble tax returns by exporting data files and printing required documentation using various tax software.
- Prepare certified mailing documents to ensure timely delivery of tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local tax filing deadlines.
Requirements
Education:
- Associate degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience providing administrative support in an office environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of accounting best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with intermediate skills in Excel and Word.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload, meet deadlines, and multitask.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through collaboration and respect.
