Overview
A remote, full-time Tax Manager position is available to support and refine the federal income tax strategy for a major motor company and its subsidiaries. The role focuses on minimizing tax risks and liabilities while maximizing tax opportunities and refunds. It involves overseeing US income tax accounting and compliance processes to ensure timely filings and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate preparation and review of US federal and state income tax provision computations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.
- Manage consolidation and reporting of global income tax expenses, deferred tax items, tax payable balances, reserves, and valuation allowances.
- Oversee tax accounting entries, adjustments from audits, and process improvements.
- Coordinate US federal income tax compliance, including meeting filing deadlines, estimated payments, and documentation requirements.
- Monitor changes in US GAAP, tax law, and business operations impacting tax filings and liabilities.
- Lead and mentor tax team members during compliance processes.
- Educate non-tax and non-finance personnel on tax matters relevant to their functions.
- Manage federal income tax audits, including data collection, analysis, and communication with tax authorities and consultants.
- Support non-income and foreign income tax audits as needed.
- Assist US business and functional personnel with tax analysis, planning, and considerations related to business changes or tax law updates.
- Manage outsourced tax projects from scoping through delivery, focusing on cost, efficiency, resource allocation, and audit defense.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; major in accounting or finance preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including income tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or global company.
- Exposure to a variety of tax issues, compliance, and audit experience.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and process management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax personnel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Willingness to learn new tax areas and stay current with tax law changes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply financial and tax concepts to new situations.
- Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., OneSource, ProSystems, Corptax) and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with financial systems such as Hyperion, JD Edwards, SAP, and/or BPC.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or advanced degree in Tax or Law.
- Experience with Corptax and extracting information from SAP and BPC.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $119,900 - $179,800 (national average; actual pay depends on location and experience).
