Overview
A professional services firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join their Outsourced Accounting Services Practice Group. This role involves developing vision, strategies, and action plans to service clients and grow the service base. The Tax Manager will lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services. The position is based in one of the New England offices or can be performed remotely to support client work.
Travel Expectations: Minimal travel required, less than 10% annually, with occasional travel to client sites up to 15%.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on tax implications related to their business objectives.
- Evaluate and select alternative actions to reduce tax burden and compliance costs.
- Identify different methods of complying with tax regulations.
- Serve as the primary client contact for complex tax issues.
- Understand potential tax issues, communicate risks and changes in tax policy.
- Make decisions regarding tax filing, preparation, and resolution of inquiries from federal and state agencies.
- Participate as a key member of the office/region leadership team.
- Engage in marketing, networking, and business development within areas of expertise.
- Maintain and nurture client relationships, acting as the primary contact for complex questions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and CPA license required; Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role managing engagements, clients, and staff.
- Strong analytical, technical, and tax accounting skills.
- Proficiency in tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns.
- Expert knowledge in at least 1-2 industry areas relevant to the firm’s services.
- Experience managing, developing, and mentoring a team of tax professionals.
- Active participation in marketing and recruitment efforts.
- Ability to delegate work effectively.
- Strong analytical, research, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Proven success working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to compose written tax advice.
- Executive presence with the ability to act as primary client contact for issue preparation and presentation.
- Exceptional client service, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
- Computer proficiency including knowledge of tax software and technology; experience with ProSystem Tax and ProSystem Engagement is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $110,000 - $140,000.
- Final salary will be based on experience, education, seniority, merit, and other relevant factors.
