Overview
A financial services technology organization specializing in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and loan agency transactions is seeking a Tax Operations Manager. Since 2007, the organization has supported over 10,000 deals totaling more than $1.7 trillion by combining expert human insight with technology solutions such as virtual data rooms, document solicitation, escrow and payment administration, shareholder representation, and independent loan agency services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Tax Operations team, including coaching and performance management.
- Oversee tax operations for Forms 1042-S, 8288, 8288-A, and 1099, ensuring compliance.
- Manage tax requirements related to mergers, acquisitions, and transaction-based payments.
- Collaborate with Payments, Relationship, and Releases teams, as well as external advisors, to ensure tax process consistency.
- Develop and maintain tax controls, workflows, and documentation to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and implement changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee tax reconciliations, filings, audit support, and regulatory inquiries.
- Enhance operational efficiency through process standardization and technology.
- Prepare and file Customer Tax Documents within IRS timelines.
- Provide guidance on complex tax issues as an escalation point.
- Perform additional duties supporting tax operations and organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in tax operations or compliance.
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing or leading teams.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax reporting and withholding, including Forms 1042-S, 8288-A, and 1099.
- Experience supporting tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and transaction-based payments.
- Ability to lead scalable operations with effective controls and risk mitigation.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration skills, including with distributed teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
- High attention to detail focused on accuracy, compliance, and risk management.
- Preferred: Experience with NetSuite and knowledge of the M&A process.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $105,000 to $120,000, depending on experience.
