Tax Renewals & Exemptions Specialist

Overview

A remote opportunity is available for a Tax Renewals & Exemptions Specialist within a Regulatory & Tax Compliance Operations team. This role focuses on managing business tax and license renewals, coordinating tax exemption requests, and supporting client tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit annual business tax and license renewals by researching applicable state and local jurisdiction requirements.
• Manage tax exemption requests, applications, certificates, supporting documentation, and renewal requirements.
• Track renewal and exemption deadlines, monitor outstanding items, and maintain internal status reporting until completion.
• Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information, documentation, approvals, and other filing requirements.
• Coordinate with state and local taxing authorities regarding pending applications, approvals, rejected submissions, and missing documentation.
• Maintain accurate client account records and support tax registrations, account updates, and account closures as workload permits.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in tax compliance, business licensing, renewals, exemptions, registrations, or related administrative support preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow assignments through to completion.
• Strong research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word) and PDF Exchange Editor or Adobe.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with state and local taxing authorities and online agency portals.
• Experience with telecommunications or indirect tax compliance is a plus.
