Overview

This role involves applying tax knowledge to intermediate-level flow-through returns and all levels of individual returns. The position includes reviewing basic tax return engagements, analyzing business transactions, and performing complete and efficient reviews of individual and business tax returns while providing guidance to other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Gather data from clients, audit and assurance departments, and third-party sources
  • Perform tax research considering alternatives to satisfy client objectives
  • Resolve open items and issues on assigned engagements
  • Direct and control concurrent assignments to successful completion
  • Manage bottom-line aspects of assigned engagements and individual productivity
  • Teach, develop, and oversee staff through engagements; delegate assignments and tasks
  • Provide honest, objective, and constructive feedback to staff in a timely manner
  • Collaborate to identify and sell opportunities among existing clients
  • Serve as a mentor and role model through active participation in firm committees, departmental matters, and events

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years recent public accounting experience
  • CPA certification or significant progress toward certification
  • Ability to prepare and/or review complete sets of financial statements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong time and work management skills

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Regularly required to remain stationary; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; communicate in person and by telephone
  • Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Regular use of written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents
  • Ability to observe and interpret situations
  • Ability to work under deadlines with frequent interruptions
  • Interaction with internal and external customers and others during work
