Overview
This role involves applying deep technical accounting expertise to help shape how advanced AI models handle complex accounting judgments. The position focuses on designing challenging accounting tasks, evaluating AI-generated accounting positions, and creating reference materials to guide AI reasoning under US GAAP and IFRS.
Responsibilities
- Design realistic technical accounting scenarios involving complex revenue arrangements and lease judgments without clear textbook answers
- Develop evaluation rubrics that reflect the reasoning process of a skilled technical accountant, beyond just final numbers
- Review AI-generated accounting positions and memos for technical accuracy, defensibility, and disclosure implications under US GAAP and IFRS
- Create reference memos and worked examples covering topics such as multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, lease classification, and remeasurement
- Identify instances where AI models apply standards mechanically or miss important second-order effects, and explain the significance
Requirements
- 5 to 8+ years of experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, a Big 4 national or technical office, or as a corporate technical accounting lead
- Experience writing or reviewing position memos that have successfully withstood audit scrutiny
- CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred but not required
- Ability to clearly explain judgment calls so that non-specialists or AI models can understand the reasoning process, not just the conclusion
