Overview

A company in the grocery delivery industry is seeking a Technical Revenue Accounting Manager to oversee complex revenue recognition issues and ensure compliance with ASC 606 standards across multiple revenue streams. This role is essential for advising on deal structures, supporting new product launches, and managing the revenue close process with strong controls. The position requires collaboration with various departments and external auditors to influence revenue-related policies and processes, supporting financial accuracy and operational scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on revenue recognition, including ASC 606 assessments for principal versus agent, variable consideration, and contract modifications
  • Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, Legal, and Product teams on contract reviews and deal structuring
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly revenue close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, analytics, and disclosures
  • Maintain and improve revenue processes and SOX controls; coordinate audit requests and resolve issues with external auditors
  • Work with Finance Systems and Data teams to enhance revenue systems, tooling, and data quality to support automation and scalability
  • Support product and pricing initiatives by ensuring compliant accounting outcomes and providing training and guidance to partners

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of revenue accounting or audit experience with significant exposure to ASC 606 at a public company or public accounting firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent with a strong accounting concentration
  • Proven experience managing monthly revenue close for multiple streams, including journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures
  • Skilled in reviewing complex customer contracts and drafting technical accounting memos
  • Experience with SOX 404 revenue controls and supporting financial statement audits
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA credential
  • Experience in Big 4/public accounting or high-growth technology, e-commerce, or marketplace environments
  • Knowledge of advertising and subscription revenue models, principal versus agent assessments, and consideration payable to customers
  • Experience partnering with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk to implement revenue policies and contracting processes
  • Familiarity with revenue automation tools and reporting platforms such as NetSuite and Workiva
  • Ability to analyze large datasets or use SQL/BI tools

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay ranges for US-based candidates vary by location:
    • CA, NY, CT, NJ: $135,000—$142,500 USD
    • WA: $130,000—$137,000 USD
    • OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $124,000—$131,000 USD
    • All other states: $113,000—$119,000 USD
  • Offers may vary based on candidate experience and skills
  • Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants
