Overview
The organization is seeking a Treasury Operations and Reconciliations Manager to run the daily operations that keep customer funds moving safely through payment channels. This is a hands-on senior role during a period of rapid growth and operational change, with increasing volumes, 24/7 instant payments, and new money flows from additional products and payment acceptance.
As part of a small team, you will manage settlement and reconciliation day to day, step in when money does not move as expected, and help design funds flows for new products in partnership with product and engineering teams prior to launch.
Responsibilities
- Daily settlement and reconciliation: Ensure every euro is settled correctly and reconciled accurately.
- Treasury operations (24/7): Perform daily funding of payment channels and the buffers behind them; help bring new schemes and settlement models live safely.
- Reconciliation across multiple counterparties: Reconcile across banks, card schemes, payment processors, and custodians—from daily balance checks to automated, transaction-level control.
- Safeguarding and reporting: Keep client money fully protected every day and ensure regulatory and scheme reporting is accurate and on time.
- Funds-flow engineering for new products and markets: Help design how money moves, including accounts, postings, safeguarding treatment, reconciliation approaches, and failure handling.
- Escalation ownership: Serve as the escalation point when money does not move as it should; build cross-team processes to resolve incidents quickly and prevent recurrence.
- Process documentation and automation: Document how operations work, remove single points of failure, and automate manual tasks together with engineering.
- Operational accountability: Run day-to-day operations and ensure reconciliation outputs reflect reality; maintain independence between policy, execution, and reconciliation as required for a banking license.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of payment systems.
- Ability to remain effective in escalation situations.
- Experience in treasury operations, payment operations, or reconciliation at an e-money institution, payment institution, or bank.
- Builder’s mindset: Ability to turn manual, person-dependent work into documented, automated processes in close collaboration with engineers.
- Escalation experience: Handling money-impacting payment incidents from first alert to resolution, working with banks, schemes, and internal teams.
- Hands-on payment systems knowledge: Rails such as SEPA, SWIFT, and card schemes.
- Funds-flow engineering experience: Active role in designing or rebuilding money flows for new products or payment rails, including accounts, postings, safeguarding treatment, and reconciliation.
- Control and clarity: Comfortable with segregation of duties and audit readiness; able to explain complex money flows simply.
- Fluent English.
