Accountant III

Overview

This role involves advanced accounting work and fiscal management duties for a joint powers agency of the City and County of Sacramento. Under general direction, the Accountant III (Fiscal Manager) performs responsibilities related to the review and validation of agency expenditures, financial reporting, budget development, and supervision of assigned staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise disbursement, procurement, payroll, inventory, and monitoring functions
• Review and validate agency expenditures
• Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial and fiscal reports
• Develop program budgets and analyze monthly program expenditures
• Supervise and monitor the activities of assigned staff
• Train other fiscal staff and assist them in understanding fiscal procedures and applicable regulations
• Assist with related duties as required

Requirements

• Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
• Typical qualification path:
  • Advanced educational training in finance and accounting
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible work experience in accounting, finance, and data processing work
  • Preferably includes considerable experience with cost accounting methods and procedures and internal fiscal controls

• Knowledgeable in fiscal grant administration
• Excellent communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary: $85k to $100k/Year depending on experience and qualifications
