Overview
A leading provider of enterprise-class data center, cloud, and interconnection services is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its financial operations. Responsibilities
- Assist the Tax Director in preparing and filing federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and deadlines are met
- Manage the tax filing process by coordinating timelines for sign-offs and approvals
- Participate in the financial close process by making necessary adjusting and accrual journal entries
- Conduct audit-ready account analysis and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive financial tax records, including documentation of paid taxes and supporting analysis
- Assist in preparing responses to inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities
- Support the management of sales and use tax systems and processes, including handling sales tax exemptions
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements
- Perform additional accounting tasks as assigned by management
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; additional accounting certifications are a plus
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for experience in tax accounting
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with financial accounting software; experience with NetSuite is advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office Suite, with intermediate proficiency in Excel (familiarity with functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating critical thinking and professional judgment
- Capability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proactive attitude and a detail-oriented approach to work
