Overview

The organization is seeking an Accounting Manager with strong investment accounting experience to join the finance team. This role involves owning investment accounting and reporting, supporting the broader financial close, and helping maintain accurate records and effective controls across the organization.

Initial focus will be on investments and financial reporting. Over time, the role will increasingly shift toward digital asset accounting as knowledge and practical experience grow. Prior digital asset experience is not required; strong accounting judgment, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Responsibilities

Investment accounting and reporting

  • Manage accounting for a portfolio of investments, including fund interests, private equity, loans and other financial instruments, as applicable.
  • Review investment agreements to assess accounting treatment, recognition, classification, and measurement; escalate significant judgments to the Financial Controller.
  • Maintain investment registers and supporting schedules, including commitments, capital calls, distributions, income, disposals, and outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and review valuations, fair value movements, impairment assessments, and supporting documentation, working with investment teams, fund administrators, and external specialists.
  • Reconcile investment records to statements and the general ledger, investigate differences, and prepare portfolio reporting and financial statement disclosures.

Financial close and audit

  • Coordinate assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, preparing and reviewing journals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support group reporting, intercompany reconciliations, consolidation, and preparation of financial statements under the applicable reporting framework, including IFRS.
  • Prepare analysis for management and board reporting, clearly explaining material movements and accounting judgments.
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors on assigned areas by providing complete working papers and resolving queries promptly.

Controls and collaboration

  • Strengthen accounting policies, documentation, and review controls; improve processes to support a growing and evolving organization.
  • Work closely with finance, investment, legal, and operational colleagues to ensure transactions are understood and recorded accurately.
  • Review work prepared by other team members where assigned, provide constructive guidance, and help maintain clear ownership of deadlines.

Development into digital asset accounting

  • Develop practical knowledge of digital assets, blockchain transactions, wallets, custody arrangements, staking, and decentralised finance.
  • Take progressively more responsibility for digital asset reconciliations, transaction analysis, and accounting, working alongside experienced colleagues.
  • Help assess the accounting treatment of token investments, token receipts, and other digital asset arrangements, documenting the substance of transactions.
  • Contribute to improvements in digital asset accounting systems, data quality, valuation processes, and controls as this becomes a core focus of the role.

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified accountant with a recognised professional designation such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, or financial reporting for investment portfolios, gained in practice or industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, fair value measurement, and financial reporting under IFRS or a comparable framework.
  • Experience managing close deliverables, preparing or reviewing reconciliations and working papers, and supporting external audits.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret agreements and clearly explain complex accounting matters.
  • Proactive, collaborative approach; attention to detail; ability to manage competing deadlines with appropriate independence.
  • Clear interest in learning digital asset accounting and developing into a role with a substantial digital asset focus.

Desirable

  • Exposure to private investments, alternative funds, complex investment structures, or group consolidation.
  • Experience with IFRS, NetSuite, or accounting process improvements.
  • Familiarity with blockchain, digital assets, or specialist crypto accounting platforms (welcome but not required).
