Accounting Manager – Remote (U.S. Based)

Overview

This fully remote role is based in the U.S. (U.S. based). The Accounting Manager oversees a portfolio of construction clients within the 1530 NAICS Construction Sector, guiding them through the complexities of job costing, payroll, bill pay, and other accounting needs. The position is client-facing and involves leading meetings, reviewing team work, and ensuring smooth execution of accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage a book of 15 to 30 construction clients, ensuring financial processes run smoothly and on time.
• Prepare and present monthly and year-end financial statements, job costing, and Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports.
• Oversee, mentor, and support bookkeeping/admin assistants to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Implement and maintain advanced controller services such as online bill pay, invoicing, KPI tracking, and monthly WIP reporting.
• Lead client meetings, translating complex accounting data into actionable insights.
• Troubleshoot and resolve client accounting challenges, often on tight timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA a strong plus).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Experience in both public accounting (CPA firm) and working directly for construction companies is highly valued.
• Skilled in QuickBooks Online (minimum 3 years).
• Strong client relationship and communication skills, able to build trust and explain financials clearly.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously without sacrificing quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA (strong plus).
• Experience working with construction companies and/or construction accounting.
