Accounting Specialist

Overview

This Accounting Specialist role reports to the Senior Director Controller and supports accounting activities required to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and standards.

Working Conditions

• Ability to travel to remote locations when necessary

Responsibilities

• Process accounts receivable cash receipts applications and support accounts receivable reporting
• Assist with vendor master data setup and maintenance, including follow-up
• Assist with creating, following up on receiving, and maintaining purchase orders
• Provide support for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and daily functional areas in the accounting department
• Assist with fiscal period close activities and reporting for SOX controls
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity, proactively communicating with field and corporate staff regarding questions, concerns, missing information, or variances
• Compile and quality control information for internal and external auditors as required
• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned by management

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred)
• Understanding of GAAP and SOX controls
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and how it relates to financial reporting
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4Hana preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications
• Demonstrated experience working independently in a remote environment
• Initiative-taking mindset with excellent communication and writing skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Three years of accounting experience
