Overview
This role is for an Accounts Payable Specialist working remotely within the United States. The position can be full-time or part-time and involves managing and processing financial obligations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.
Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and payment requests
- Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation
- Accurately enter accounts payable transactions into accounting systems
- Prepare and process electronic payments, ACH transfers, checks, and wire transactions
- Monitor payment schedules to ensure timely and accurate disbursements
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, account inquiries, and documentation requests
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Support audits by providing required financial documentation and reports
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, procurement, and operations teams as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial role
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial recordkeeping
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, and reporting functions
- Familiarity with ERP systems and electronic invoice processing
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience handling confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism
