Overview

This role is for an Accounts Payable Specialist working remotely within the United States. The position can be full-time or part-time and involves managing and processing financial obligations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and payment requests
  • Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation
  • Accurately enter accounts payable transactions into accounting systems
  • Prepare and process electronic payments, ACH transfers, checks, and wire transactions
  • Monitor payment schedules to ensure timely and accurate disbursements
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, account inquiries, and documentation requests
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Support audits by providing required financial documentation and reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, procurement, and operations teams as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial role
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial recordkeeping
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, and reporting functions
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and electronic invoice processing
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience handling confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism
