Accounts Payable Specialist (Remote)

Overview

The organization is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property Accountant to manage financial reporting and accounting activities for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely month-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while partnering with Property Managers and corporate leadership.

Responsibilities

• Vendor setup: Add new vendors to the accounting system, collect and verify required documentation, and keep vendor records complete and accurate.
• Weekly invoice release: Review, prepare, and release the weekly invoice payment run, ensuring invoices are approved and coded to the correct property and account.
• Manual checks: Post manual checks to the accounting system so payments are recorded accurately and on time.
• Utility/Conservice support: Assist the Controller with utility management and billing support, including tracking utility bills, resolving discrepancies, and supporting property onboarding.
• Online utility payments: Process online utility payments for properties not yet onboarded with the utility provider, and track due dates to avoid late fees or service interruptions.

Requirements

• Professional accounts payable experience, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and releasing payments.
• Experience posting manual checks and recording payments in an accounting or ERP system.
• Experience paying vendor or utility bills through online payment portals.
• Strong attention to detail and organization; ability to manage recurring deadlines across many properties or accounts.
• Working proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Clear written communication and ability to work independently with a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing financial reporting and accounting activities for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties.
• Familiarity with ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting month-end close.
