Overview
This role involves managing accounts receivable by working with customers to accelerate payment collections and applying consistent credit policies. The position requires periodic credit reviews of existing customers and assessing the creditworthiness of potential customers daily. Maintaining professionalism and respect in all customer interactions is essential.
Responsibilities
- Track and resolve outstanding payment issues and report on monthly collections promptly.
- Provide customer service related to collection issues, process refunds, review and process account adjustments, and resolve discrepancies and short payments.
- Monitor and maintain customer accounts, including calls, account adjustments, small balance write-offs, deductions, reconciliations, and credit memo processing.
- Collaborate with Cash Application, Sales Tax, Customer Service, and other internal departments to reconcile accounts effectively.
- Engage sales and senior management as needed to expedite collections.
- Maintain open communication and timely follow-up with the sales department regarding customer accounts.
- Manage customers in the credit hold queue and maintain customer credit files.
- Respond to credit reference requests.
- Recommend credit policy changes to senior management.
- Monitor account creditworthiness and review with management as required.
- Perform other assigned tasks and ad hoc duties to support the Accounts Receivable Department.
- Participate in daily huddles and weekly/monthly meetings to discuss and resolve accounts receivable issues.
- Contribute to accounts receivable projects such as Avalara and Bill Trust.
- Meet defined department goals and activity metrics.
- Review and approve direct reports’ timecards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Approve employee timecards before supervisor deadlines and resolve timecard errors.
- Review and approve PTO requests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with key performance measures including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), electronic billing and payments percentages, bad debt write-off percentages, and implementing improvements.
