Overview

This role is part of a team focused on risk and analytics within the consumer finance sector, aiming to optimize business strategies through data-driven decision making. The team collaborates with various departments including Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, Capital Markets, and Commercial teams to responsibly grow the business by improving approval rates, conversion, loss mitigation, and profitability.

The team works across the entire customer and merchant lifecycle, addressing challenges such as checkout conversion optimization, fraud risk reduction, scalable data infrastructure development, and international market expansion. The role involves ownership of the analytical lifecycle from question formulation to business decision, turning complex data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Use data analytics to uncover insights that optimize product, risk, or growth strategies across different regions.
  • Monitor portfolio health by tracking performance metrics, user behavior, and macroeconomic trends; identify risks and anomalies.
  • Write clean, efficient SQL and Python code to build scalable reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to support deployment of machine learning and risk models.
  • Work closely with Product, Legal, and Compliance teams to understand consumer lending regulations and translate them into data models and operational policies.
  • Support cross-functional alignment for new product launches and market entries to ensure operational and risk compliance.
  • Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to enhance data mining and routine task efficiency, while ensuring output accuracy.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in an analytically-driven role; internships or experience in consumer lending, fintech, or financial services are highly valued.
  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with data mining, data visualization, and basic statistical modeling.
  • Basic understanding or strong interest in consumer lending regulations, fair lending principles, and application of machine learning to business problems.
  • Strong communication skills, humility, and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Grade: I
  • Equity Grade: 5
  • Base pay range for CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT: $115,000 - $165,000 per year
  • Base pay range for other U.S. states: $101,000 - $151,000 per year
  • Total compensation may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending.
