Overview

The organization is seeking an experienced Asset Management Manager to support waterfall modeling and investor reporting for a growing portfolio of residential and commercial solar assets. This role is a subject matter expert responsible for the accuracy of cash waterfall models, the integrity of reporting data, and the timely delivery of investor and lender reporting.

The ideal candidate brings structured-finance and reporting experience, with a data-oriented approach to process improvement. The position partners with accounting, tax, legal, operations, and third-party auditors to support accurate distributions, maintain compliance with financing agreements, and enhance reporting processes through stronger controls, improved data management, and automation.

Responsibilities

Waterfall Modeling & Distributions

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on multi-tranche waterfall models covering debt tranches, equity returns, fees, and reserves.
  • Maintain, review, and enhance waterfall models to support accurate monthly and quarterly distribution calculations, debt-service payments, and equity cures in accordance with contractual waterfalls.
  • Monitor covenant compliance, including LTV, DSCR, and yield tests, and coordinate follow-up actions where needed.
  • Ensure model assumptions, outputs, and calculations are supported by complete and accurate financial and operational data.

Investor & Lender Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and support the delivery of investor reports, distribution statements, and compliance certificates on the required cadence.
  • Improve the consistency, accuracy, and usefulness of investor reporting by strengthening data inputs, validation processes, and reporting controls.
  • Coordinate data from accounting, collections, lease management, and operating performance teams and synthesize it into clear reporting packages, dashboards, and commentary.
  • Respond to investor and lender inquiries with variance analysis, reporting support, and clear communication.
  • Support ongoing enhancements to investor reporting materials and processes to improve transparency, timeliness, and overall quality.

Controls, Audit & Data Governance

  • Oversee the collection, validation, and reconciliation of data used in waterfall models and external reporting.
  • Maintain strong model governance standards, version control, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Establish and refine controls and review procedures to improve completeness, accuracy, and traceability of reporting outputs.
  • Support third-party audits by coordinating data requests, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate recurring waterfall, reporting, and data aggregation processes.
  • Use tools such as Excel VBA, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar solutions to reduce manual work and improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Standardize templates, checklists, and procedures across the reporting function.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve data flows, streamline reporting processes, and support scalable reporting infrastructure.

New Portfolio Onboarding

  • Support the setup of waterfall models and reporting processes for newly acquired or financed assets.
  • Oversee integration of site-level performance data, historical financials, and contractual terms into existing models and reporting workflows.
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs from accounting, tax, legal, and operations to support a smooth transition into ongoing asset management.
  • Help establish consistent onboarding processes that support portfolio growth and reporting quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 6–8 years of relevant experience in structured-finance modeling, investor reporting, or asset management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial modeling; experience with VBA and other automation tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex analyses clearly to senior internal stakeholders, investors, and lenders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining strong controls and high-quality reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in renewable-energy finance, infrastructure, or distributed-asset structured finance.
  • Familiarity with data management platforms, ERP systems, or CRM tools such as Salesforce, Argus, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting process automation or reporting improvements in a finance or asset-management setting.
