Overview

An organization is seeking an Associate Tax Research Specialist to join their team remotely within the United States. This full-time position operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role involves applying practical experience in business entity income tax compliance and/or programming to develop and maintain corporate and pass-through tax software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Research changes to tax forms and interpret tax code and regulation updates driving those changes
  • Provide guidance to programmers on necessary updates to tax calculations based on research findings; training provided for proprietary software language
  • Test tax return calculations for accuracy, consistency, and usability
  • Design and execute test cases to confirm correct implementation of tax law changes
  • Contribute to release notes, technical explanations, and customer-facing guidance as needed
  • Develop working knowledge of assigned jurisdictions or tax topics and assist the team accordingly
  • Develop and update documentation supporting tax return calculations and related materials
  • Provide product support through direct and indirect communication channels

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 0 to 3 years of industry or public accounting experience specializing in corporate or pass-through income tax compliance or programming experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills quickly
  • Ability to work extended schedules as required to meet objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification or master’s degree
  • Experience leveraging AI-driven tools (e.g., generative AI, tax research platforms with AI capabilities, data analytics tools) to enhance tax research and workflow efficiency
  • Experience reading and interpreting COBOL and/or C#
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps
  • Exposure to and interest in tax software applications and Microsoft products
  • Equivalent experience at a tax software company

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated salary range: $58,000 to $73,000, dependent on job location, knowledge, and experience
