Overview

This role involves supporting tax research and technical implementation for corporate and Pass-through tax software solutions.

  • Job Title: Associate Tax Research Specialist
  • Location: United States (Remote)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Responsibilities

  • Research changes to tax forms.
  • Interpret tax code and regulation updates that drive those changes.
  • Provide guidance to programmers on calculation updates based on research findings (for candidates with programming experience or for non-programmers who want to learn programming; proprietary software language and training will be provided).
  • Test tax return calculations for accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Design and execute test cases to confirm correct implementation of tax law changes.
  • Contribute to release notes, technical explanations, and customer-facing guidance as needed.
  • Build working knowledge of assigned jurisdictions or tax topics and assist the team by applying that knowledge.
  • Develop and update documentation to support tax return calculations and related materials.
  • Provide product support through both direct and indirect communication channels.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of industry or public accounting experience specializing in corporate or Pass-through income tax compliance or programming experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills quickly.
  • Ability to work an extended schedule as required to meet objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or master’s degree.
  • Experience leveraging AI-driven tools (e.g., generative AI, tax research platforms with AI capabilities, data analytics tools) to enhance tax research, technical analysis, and workflow efficiency.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting COBOL and/or C#.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to and interest in tax software applications and Microsoft products.
  • Equivalent experience at a tax software company.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay range: $58,000–$73,000 (compensation decisions depend on job location and the knowledge and experience of the individual).
  • Benefits may include annual leave, tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, and other support options.
  • Success sharing bonuses or commission plans may be available based on individual performance, depending on role.

  • Remote work available from within the United States.
