Billing Specialist

Overview

Position: Billing Specialist
Location: Remote (US only)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities

• Manage accurate and timely submission of medical claims
• Resolve billing issues and discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline billing workflows
• Analyze billing performance and provide insights for process improvement
• Handle communications with customers and payers regarding billing inquiries
• Maintain organized documentation related to billing activities
• Stay updated on industry changes and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Billing Specialist or in a similar healthcare billing role
• Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, including CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Familiarity with insurance claims processing
• Proficiency with billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems; experience with athenahealth and Veradigm is a plus
• Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCA) is advantageous
• Experience with billing for Chronic Care Management (CCM) and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) services
