Overview

A fast-growing technology organization is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Commissions Specialist to manage commission operations and sales compensation for their salesforce. This role bridges Sales, Finance, and Revenue Operations, ensuring accurate and timely payment aligned with incentive plans designed to drive desired sales behaviors. The position also includes responsibilities related to pricing execution and Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) administration.

This role is remote within the United States. Due to a global team with many colleagues in Europe, some early mornings may be required for those located in western U.S. time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end commission operations, including monthly calculation, validation, and payout of commissions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and auditability.
  • Act as the primary contact for commission-related inquiries, resolving disputes transparently to build trust within the sales organization.
  • Lead commission plan design and governance in partnership with Sales, Finance, and RevOps, translating business goals into effective incentive structures.
  • Maintain and improve compensation policy documentation covering quotas, crediting rules, accelerators, clawbacks, and exceptions.
  • Analyze payout trends, attainment distributions, and plan effectiveness to provide insights that inform compensation strategy.
  • Collaborate with Finance on accruals, forecasting, and compensation reporting to ensure accurate reflection of commission liabilities.
  • Administer and optimize commission management tools, whether dedicated platforms or Salesforce-based solutions.
  • Support pricing and deal desk operations by managing discount frameworks, approval processes, and CPQ tooling in collaboration with Sales and Finance.
  • Provide training and clear documentation on commission plans and quoting processes to enable the sales team.
  • Track and report deal metrics such as discount trends, deal cycle times, and approval patterns to support pricing decisions and sales performance visibility.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in Sales Compensation, Revenue Operations, or Deal Desk roles within a B2B SaaS environment, primarily focused on commission operations and plan management.
  • Deep expertise in sales compensation plan design, quota-setting, payout operations, dispute resolution, and compensation governance.
  • Experience administering or optimizing commission management tools such as QuotaPath, CaptivateIQ, Spiff, Xactly, or similar.
  • Familiarity with SaaS pricing models, CPQ systems, and deal structuring to effectively manage quoting operations and partner with Sales and Finance.
  • Hands-on experience with CPQ tools like Salesforce CPQ or DealHub is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to model compensation scenarios, identify payout anomalies, and translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Legal, and RevOps in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth companies where compensation processes were built or significantly improved.
