Construction Client Accountant

Overview

This role is a fully remote, client-facing construction accounting position. You will manage day-to-day accounting needs for multiple construction clients, working directly in Sage 100 Contractor across payroll, job costing, WIP, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple construction clients
• Personally process payroll in Sage 100 Contractor, including payroll taxes and filings
• Perform bank reconciliations, sales tax filings, month-end close, and billing support
• Prepare and maintain job costing and WIP
• Support progress billing, AP, AR, audit, and year-end accounting needs
• Work directly in Sage 100 Contractor to support ongoing client accounting workflows
• Maintain accurate records and a clean audit trail
• Identify and resolve accounting issues independently when possible
• Manage multiple client deadlines and competing priorities
• Communicate clearly with clients and follow through on commitments

Requirements

• Recent, hands-on Sage 100 Contractor experience is required
• Direct construction accounting experience with:
  • WIP, job costing, payroll, progress billing, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Experience with other construction accounting systems does not replace the Sage 100 Contractor requirement
• Hands-on experience preparing and maintaining WIP and job costing
• Hands-on progress billing experience
• Hands-on experience personally processing payroll in Sage 100 Contractor, including payroll taxes and filings
• Multi-state payroll experience
• Union payroll and/or prevailing wage payroll experience
• Strong month-end close experience
• Hands-on AP, AR, journal entry, and reconciliation experience
• Ability to manage accounting responsibilities, deadlines, and competing priorities across multiple clients
• Comfort communicating directly with clients about day-to-day accounting questions and needs
• Strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through
• Ability to step into an existing client environment with minimal ramp-up

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep and recent Sage 100 Contractor experience
• Experience supporting multiple construction companies, entities, or clients
• Certified payroll experience
• AIA billing or pay application experience
• Experience supporting audits and year-end accounting
• Ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accountants
