Controller (Remote)

Overview

This fully remote role is for a Controller who will serve as a key financial steward for client organizations. The position combines leadership of accounting operations with strategic financial planning, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure the accuracy and integrity of clients’ financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
• Take ownership of the entire accounting function, including corporate finance, GAAP adherence, and tax compliance.
• Translate financial data into actionable insights to support client goals and strategic financial planning.
• Lead the creation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reports with a focus on business alignment.
• Manage and guide complex financial projects while ensuring alignment with broader strategic objectives.
• Interpret and apply new accounting standards; act as a firm-wide content expert and advisor.
• Lead the team to deliver assigned tasks on time, meeting deadlines and driving excellence.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, supporting development and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement new service opportunities for existing clients.
• Drive innovation in financial systems and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and risk mitigation across clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 8-10 years accounting experience
• CPA highly preferred
• Public Accounting experience highly preferred
• Experience in small privately-held, entrepreneurial companies as Controller or Assistant Controller
• Deep and solid knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, etc.)
• Uncompromising sense of integrity and ethics
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and guide a remote team effectively

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $120,000 - $130,000
• Work from your home office (flexibility and independence)

Position details and hiring process:

• W2, full-time, 40-hour/week position
• Two short assessments as part of the recruiting process; results will be considered in the overall application
• Live accounting test via Teams Screen Share to confirm accounting skills (passing is mandatory)
