Overview
A leading organization in the life sciences industry is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to oversee domestic tax operations. This role involves managing the domestic income tax provision and compliance functions, reviewing workflows executed by the Senior Tax Analyst, handling audit requests, and collaborating on cross-functional finance projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the quarterly and annual close process in accordance with ASC 740, including related SEC reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Manage and review tax implications related to ASC 718 Stock-Based Compensation, Section 162(m), and other tax provision components.
- Own and maintain tax accounting control compliance under Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Manage relationships with external service providers on Federal and State income tax returns, including book/tax differences, state apportionment, and disclosures, taking primary review ownership.
- Review corporate income tax extensions and quarterly estimated tax payments prepared by external service providers.
- Collaborate with the Senior Tax Analyst on final authorization, tracking, and processing of all domestic tax payments to ensure compliance.
- Manage non-income tax operations, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax forms, payments, and state/local business licenses.
- Lead audit defense, manage federal and state inquiries, and ensure prompt remediation of notices.
- Mentor, develop, and review workflows of the Senior Tax Analyst to enhance team capability and technical growth.
- Conduct research and provide insightful analysis on tax implications of specific transactions.
- Lead ad hoc tax projects aimed at continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in federal and state income tax compliance and reporting, including at least 2 years in a CPA firm.
- CPA license required.
- Strong technical expertise in ASC 740 tax provision.
- Experience interacting with external auditors and supporting tax control compliance under Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Sharp analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (B.S./B.A.).
- Master’s degree in Taxation.
- Experience with Big 4 accounting firms or in a multinational corporate environment.
- Previous exposure to Netsuite.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $110,000 - $160,000, dependent on experience and location.
