  • Direct technical accounting research and documentation for significant transactions, financings, acquisitions, and dispositions; partner with external advisors and auditors to resolve issues.
  • Manage the annual and interim financial statement audit process, strengthening the internal control environment and driving timely remediation of findings.
  • Oversee accounting for tax equity investments and project financings, including HLBV allocations, debt issuance costs, and derivatives; partner with Treasury, Tax, and Structured Finance.
  • Build and scale accounting processes, systems, and controls to support portfolio growth, including participation in ERP implementations and system upgrades.
  • Partner across FP&A, Treasury, Portfolio Management, Structured Finance, Asset Management, Development, EPC, and Legal to support financing, M&A, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a key point of contact and backup to the VP, Controller & Treasurer on accounting and reporting matters; represent the accounting function with auditors, lenders, and investors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in renewable energy, project finance, or another complex asset-intensive industry is highly desirable.

Additional Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to model values through day-to-day behaviors (e.g., flagging risks early, communicating directly, involving the right stakeholders early, and documenting and sharing learnings).
  • Ability to translate VP and organizational strategy into a clear execution plan for the accounting function, prioritizing effectively across competing deadlines.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise in U.S. GAAP, including complex entity structures, consolidations, joint ventures, and tax equity.
  • Ability to build reliable, scalable accounting processes and controls so results hold up without reliance on individual heroics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to represent the accounting function credibly to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders with data and options.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills on complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Systems and process orientation, including experience improving accounting processes, controls, and financial systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers across functions to solve problems and avoid rework, without formal authority over their teams.
