Director of Finance (Remote Mexico)

Overview

This hybrid role combines month-end accounting ownership with finance strategy and forward-looking insight. You will support the Head of Finance as the right-hand partner, own the monthly finance rhythm end to end, and maintain/update models used to track where margin is made and lost—by client, division, and service line.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Close (~75%)

• Own the month-end close, including revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and maintaining a close calendar that consistently meets deadlines.
• Manage recurring, project, and variable (percent-of-spend / programmatic) revenue, including mid-month starts, churn, offering swaps, and prorations.
• Manage the accountant and oversee AP, AR, payroll entries, and multi-country compliance (US, Canada, Mexico, UK).
• Maintain clean, documented, audit-ready books supported by strong internal controls and reconciliations.
• Oversee billing accuracy and collections in partnership with account teams.

FP&A (~25%)

• Maintain monthly client and divisional P&Ls, including allocating staff costs from time-tracking data, direct COGS, and overhead.
• Track performance against gross margin and EBITDA targets; identify clients, service lines, and roles that drift and explain why.
• Assist the Head of Finance with the budget, rolling forecast, and variance analysis.
• Present monthly results with clear insight (not just reporting data).
• Support pricing and capacity planning by modeling new-client economics, hiring timing, and utilization.
• Report on revenue KPIs: NRR, churn, expansion, and revenue per head.
• Automate and improve reporting so the team spends less time assembling data and more time analyzing it.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in accounting and/or FP&A, ideally with experience in both.
• Hands-on month-end close ownership under GAAP, including revenue recognition for service businesses.
• Strong modeling skills in Excel / Google Sheets (SUMIFS, lookups, and driver-based models).
• Experience in professional services, agencies, or SaaS environments where margin is driven by people and time.
• Familiarity with NetSuite (or similar ERP) and time-tracking tools like Harvest is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting experience.
• Experience building client or project profitability reporting.
• Comfort using AI tools to speed up analysis and reporting.
